Defining how accounts relate to each other is a configuration task that changes the data model and how relationships are enforced in the system. Only someone with system-wide configuration privileges can create or modify those relationship definitions. The System Administrator role has the necessary rights to manage global settings and reference data, including Account Relationship Types. That’s why this role is able to define two types of account relationships. Other roles—System User, Account Administrator, and Support Agent—are limited to day-to-day operations and user-level tasks and cannot alter these foundational relationship definitions.
